Does Dark Chocolate Really make you do the happy dance ?
Scientists have confirmed what deep down, we already knew: dark chocolate makes you feel better.
Does Dark Chocolate Really make you do the happy dance ? Science says it does, well sort of.
We always welcome scientific research that somehow claims our bad habits are actually not that bad for us. We like research even better when it concludes our guilty pleasures are actually good for us. The latest being that chocolate actually helps put you in a good mood. No brainer right, well at least someone smarter then us is saying it now.
Reading stories like this put me in a good mood too. I propose that every morning begin with coffee and and piece of dark chocolate. Every lunch should end with a piece of chocolate and every dinner should end with a piece of chocolate. The world would be happier and world peace would finally be a reality.
While anecdotally, dark chocolate can do wonders for your mood, this is one of the first studies (or even the first) to study the relationship between chocolate and mood enhancement
Seventy-two healthy men and women aged 40-65 years took part in the study, receiving a dark chocolate drink mix with 500mg, 250mg or 0mg of cocoa polyphenols, all presented in identical packages. While there was no significant difference in cognitive abilities, researchers noticed a mood improvement in participants who received higher quantities of chocolate. Specifically, those who drank the high dose concentration of cocoa polyphenols reported greater calmness and contentedness than either of the other drink mixes.
*The study didn’t actually say anything about doing the happy dance .
